Rovers in race for Notts County keeper Kasper Schmeichel
It is reported that West Bromwich Albion are to battle Blackburn Rovers for Notts County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
The Daily Mail claims Baggies boss is looking to take 23-year-old to The Hawthorns.
Schmeichel is leaving Meadow Lane on a free transfer having agreed with County to have his contract terminated because his current wages – understood to be £14.5k a week – are already prohibitive and are due to rise significantly over the remaining period of his contract.
The highly-rated Dane joined County on a five-year contract in August last year as one of the major signings by former director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson.
He has already attracted interest from Birmingham City, Tottenham Hotspur and Derby County.
