David James set for Birmingham as Alex McLeish offers veteran keeper deal to replace Joe Hart
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish will offer David James the opportunity to stay in the Premier League next season.
James will play his last match for relegated Portsmouth in the FA Cup final against Chelsea and the 39-year-old will then be available on a free transfer.
McLeish needs to bring in a new No 1 as Joe Hart, one of James' main challengers for the England jersey, is set to return to Manchester City following his successful loan spell at St Andrew's.

Former Scotland manager McLeish has been looking at a similar deal to take Manchester United's Ben Foster on a temporary arrangement but has now, according to The Sun, turned his attention to James.
