Arsenal move to sign former keeper LehmannPulis - Begovic can be top dog
Stoke manager Tony Pulis believes that Asmir Begovic can become the club's first-choice keeper next season.
The deadline day signing from Portsmouth has been thrust into the limelight at the Potters followingThomas Sorrensen's dislocated elbow.
Now the 22-year-old is set for his full debut when Stoke face Everton at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
Although he was beaten five times during his appearance off the bench at Chelsea last week, Pulis confident Begovic has what it takes to be the club's No.1 goalkeeper.
"He's going to be a top keeper," the Welshman told The Sun.
"He'll make mistakes like all young keepers do and need to be taken out of the firing line at times.
"But he's desperate to play. Now he's got a great chance to show he can be the No.1 next season."
Pulis also revealed that the proposed deal for the Bosnian, which went through just minutes before the transfer deadline on 1st February, almost did not come off.
He added: "We wanted Begovic and were told he wasn't available but then things changed and I'm delighted we got him."
