Have you got what it takes to be a goalkeeper?

Welcome to NI Goalkeeping, the resource for all goalkeepers. Have a browse through the web site and get a few tips on improving your technique. Also, keep checking the diary for coaching dates coming up in 2008.

Football NI Goalkeeping was established in 2007 to provide goalkeepers of all ages and abilities with the technical detail essential for the important role they play in the team.

It is surprising that goalkeepers are often neglected in coaching sessions. Most goalkeepers just train with the out field players and get no specialised coaching what so ever.

Eleven players make up the football team the most important one being the goalkeeper who is the last line of defence and also can be the first line of attack.

The number one priority for a goalkeeper is to stop shots entering his/her goal. Good goalkeepers make the difficult saves look easy and are always in the right place at the right time. It should be remembered "One save doesn't make you a great goalkeeper, the same as one mistake doesn't make you a bad one."
